Just before 5 p.m. on Monday, officers from the Norwalk Police Patrol Division responded to a burglary at a home on Hadik Parkway. When officers arrived they learned that the suspects had fled the scene, but were able to get a description of their car and information on the suspects from the complainant, who was home at the time of the incident, police said.
The resident told police that the suspects had tried to force open to exterior doors, but they were unable to gain entry into the home.
A short time later, officers located the suspects' car stopped on Midwood Road, and made contact with the five people in the car, police said.
Officers arrested two of the five for the burglary attempt, and during a search of the car, they located a loaded .45 caliber pistol, according to police. All five occupants were arrested and charged.
Police said that two of the occupants were juveniles, ages 16 and 17. They were charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and weapon in a motor vehicle, and transported to Mead Hall in Bridgeport.
The other three occupants, 18-year-old Ryan Vetrella, 18-year-old Donald Allen, and 18-year-old Joshua Meckley, all of Norwalk, were charged with criminal attempt at second-degree burglary, weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, third-degree criminal mischief, and conspiracy.
The Norwalk Detective Bureau assisted with the investigation, and learned that the incident likely stemmed from a drug debt owed by the complainant to Ventrella, police said.
